16 Contingents Join in the 6th Pas’ungko S’g MisOcc Festival Streetdancing and Showdown Competition
Everybody was on a festive mood as they witnessed the 6th Pas’ungko S’g MisOcc Festival Streetdancing and Showdown Competition last November 14, 2015 at the MOPAC Grounds. The event began with a streetdancing participated by the 16 contingents from the different local government units in the province. The Subanen Ritual Dance Showdown Competition started at around 10:30 in the morning which lasted until in the afternoon.
The said event was also graced with the presence of the Regional Director of Department of Tourism Region 10, Hon. Catalino “Butch” E. Chan III, TIEZA Chief Operations Officer and Guest Speaker, Hon. Mark T. Lapid, provincial government officials headed by Governor Herminia M. Ramiro, and officials from different LGUs. The Hon. Vice-Governor Aurora Virginia Almonte gave message which expressed her happiness upon seeing all the contingents perform Subanen rituals on courtship, marriage, social gatherings, among others. She also extended her congratulations to all of the performers for their excellent performances in portraying the very rich culture of the Misamisnons’ indigenous roots.
At the end of the day, the Ozamiz City contingent brought home the laurels having been declared as the champion. Other winners were the contingent from Plaridel as 4th Placer, Jimenez as 3rd Placer, Baliangao as 2nd Placer, and Aloran as 1st Placer. Other awards were also given to Jimenez contingent for winning the Best in Streetdancing, Ozamiz contingent for Best in Props, Best in Choreography, and Best Festival Director, Plaridel contingent for Best in Costume, and Clarin contingent for Best in Musicality. The event culminated with a fireworks display which was immediately followed by a live band concert at the Provincial Capitol Grounds.
