Back-to-Back Celebration: PGMO Celebrates Christmas sa Kapitolyo and 6th Pas’ungko S’g MisOcc Festival Closing Ceremony
It is the time of the year for merrymaking! While every house is adorned with Christmas lanterns and lights to usher in the celebration for the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Provincial Government of Misamis Occidental also commemorated the grandest and most-awaited season of the year with an opening program for Christmas sa Kapitolyo. This was a month-long event where the Provincial Capitol Plaza appears to be an amusement park, especially for kids. For this year, they chose to have a superhero-themed Christmas icon display. On that same occasion, the 86th Provincial Anniversary and 6th Pas’ungko S’g MisOcc Festival was officially closed.
The back-to-back event took place on December 2, 2015 at the Provincial Capitol Grounds. In her welcome message, Vice-Governor of Misamis Occidental, Hon. Aurora Virginia M. Almonte, reminded the Misamisnons of the most important message for Christmas which is also the central theme of the province’s successful Founding Anniversary celebration – “thanksgiving”. The Vice-Governor expressed her gratitude by saying, “Big thanks – first of all to God for His unfailing love and for sustaining us up until this day; sa atong pinalanggang Governor Herminia Ramiro for heading this province to more aggressive economic growth; and to you our faithful and supportive workforce – the PGMO employees; and of course sa atong mga katawhang Misamisnon for always rallying behind us.”
During the ceremony, awards were given to the winners of the different contests which were organized for the celebration of the Provincial Anniversary and Pas’ungko S’g MisOcc Festival. The Christmas icons which were carefully and assiduously prepared by every team color were also presented. The program ended with a splendid fireworks display.
