Oroquieta City Hosts Palarong Pampook 2015
For this year, Oroquieta City was the host division of the Palarong Pampook 2015 which officially started with an opening ceremony last December 14, 2015 at the MOPAC Grounds. Some of the highlights of the said ceremony were the parade and saludo by the NMRAA delegates representing the 14 participating divisions; the turn-over of the NMRAA Banner by the Governor of Misamis Oriental, Hon. Yevgeny Vincent Emano, to the Governor of Misamis Occidental, Hon. Herminia Ramiro; the hoisting of NMRAA Banner together with the Misamis Occidental Banner and delegation banners; the lighting of the Salabok Torch; and the tribute to the pillars of the province. Meanwhile, Efrelyn B. Democer led the Oath of Sportsmanship, and Rico V. Sumastre headed the Oath of Officiating Officials. DepEd Regional Director, Atty. Shirley O. Chatto, on the other hand, spearheaded the declaration of the official opening of the Palarong Pambansa 2015.
The Provincial Vice-Governor Aurora Virginia M. Almonte shared a meaningful message to all the delegates – “Play well and never give up in reaching your goal to make it in the Palarong Pambansa and even in the international arena. Your opponent is not your enemy, but consider him a co-aspirer for the next pride-bearer of this country. Play well and fair my dear athletes. The government believes in your remarkable potentials”. Vice-Governor Almonte also spearheaded the symbolic releasing of Salabok Symbol and K to 12 balloons followed by the forming of the Friendship Loop by the athletes.
Celebrity Billy Crawford entertained the crowd as the event’s guest performer. The ceremony ended with a fireworks display.
