PGMO Commemorates Women’s Month Celebration
The Provincial Government of Misamis Occidental celebrated International Women’s Day on March 8, 2016 with the theme: “Kapakanan ni Juana, Isali sa Agenda” at the Provincial Farmers’ Training and Cultural Center. This activity was one of the highlights of the Women’s Month.
The affair jumpstarted with a Eucharistic celebration which was followed by the program proper. Vice-Governor Aurora Virginia M. Almonte delivered a message during the program, on Governor Herminia M. Ramiro’s behalf. Some of the most remarkable points in her message focused on women empowerment and their role as game-changers. It may be noted that in the Provincial Government of Misamis Occidental, female employees outnumber the men. The induction of the LGU-GAD focal persons was also conducted as part of the program.
The event was participated by the women contingents of all LGUs in the Province. Hon. Zaldy Daminar and Hon. Dodge Cabahug, Sr., SP Members, were present to show their support together with PGAD Officer Maribel Gonzales, PWINGS President Elma B. Gula, DTI Provincial Director Jean Tabucan, and NAPC Commissioner Gadwin Handumon, the keynote speaker.
In the afternoon, a Zumba session for all was conducted and the Health Club was launched where health lectures were given. Thereafter, medicines for diabetes and hypertension were distributed for free.
