Ms. Ozamiz is Pas’ungko Festival Queen 2015
Ozamiz City’s representative Diane Nicole Ytac was crowned as this year’s Pas’ungko Festival Queen during the Coronation Night on November 6, 2015 at the Provincial Cultural and Farmer’s Training Center. Sixteen-year-old Ytac won the second Festival Queen contest along with some major and minor awards, such as, Ms. Nature’s Spring and Best in Festival-Inspired Attire. Included also in the top 5 finalists were first runner-up Daniella Khryss Arsenal of Jimenez, second runner-up Charlene Hawom of Clarin, third runner up Glezeal Macalisang of Plaridel, and fourth runner-up Princess Joy Daque of Baliangao.
The Provincial Vice-Governor Aurora Virginia M. Almonte delivered a message during the said event. She stressed on how Filipino culture has changed in the modern times, especially, among women. She proudly said that despite the observed changes at present, the Provincial Government, through the support of the Governor Herminia Ramiro, still gives importance to the true Filipino culture and preserves it through some activities. In honor of the Subanen culture, the Vice-Governor added, “Ug dako natong garbo isip usa ka probinsya nga kada tuig, atong napakita sa atong mga katawhan ug sa atong mga bisita nga ang atong mga dalaga, they have their own beauty even as they represent a conservative culture different from a modern time.”
The said event was also graced with the presence of a very special guest, Hon. Isko Moreno, who awed the crowd because of his natural charm and humor. Knitted to his speech was a fun question-and-answer game with an audience participation. A cheerful woman from the crowd who was chosen by Moreno to answer his question was lucky to win the cash prize despite her wrong answer plus a photoshoot opportunity with Moreno.
Aside from the latter, Mr. Pastillas, Richard Parojinog, was also one of the guests who serenaded the candidates and the audience with a few songs.
