PAO Celebrates 5th Agri-Aqua Day
It was literally a Green Day when the Provincial Agriculture’s Office celebrated its 5th Agri-Aqua Day on November 6, 2015 at the Provincial Capitol Grounds as part of the month-long celebration of Misamis Occidental’s 86th Founding Anniversary and 6th Pas’ungko S’g MisOcc Festival. The event showcased the province’s abundant agricultural products.
In her speech, Vice-Governor Aurora Virginia “Jie-Jie” Almonte, expressed her gratitude to the agriculture frontliners – the fishermen and farmers – for their great contribution in the economy of the province, as well as to the Provincial Agriculture’s Office headed by Mr. Jose “Boy” L. Satorre, and to the different LGU’s. Despite the many challenges that are hindering the Provincial Government from fully achieving the highest potential of the agriculture sector, Vice Governor Almonte reiterated that the Provincial Government of Misamis Occidental is making a big effort in creating the Investment Code, Environment Code, and Tourism Code for the development of the tourism and agriculture sector of the province. She also hoped for many productive years for Misamis Occidental.
The day was filled with excitement and fun by way of RBO contests, such as, Dakop sa Baktin, Kagud sa Lubi, and Pinaka Contest. It also showcased various talents of Misamisnons in the RIC OPM Singing Contest and Creative Modern Dance Contest. The event was made more exciting by the raffle draws, ceremonial distribution of fishing paraphernalia, awarding of winners for the GO HERMIE Grow Organic Vegetable Contest, GO HERMIE Provincial Search for Agri-Aqua Achievers Award, and for the other games and contests.
