Vice-Governor’s Speech: 20th Malindang Ascent and 2nd Pas’ungko Climb

A beautiful evening everyone! Akong pagtahod sa atong Inahan sa Probinsya, Gov. Herminia Ramiro; sa akong mga kauban sa pagpanday ug mga balaod, ang atong mga SP Board Members; sa atong Malindang Trekkers ug sa ilang advisers; sa atong mga honored guests from a number of mountaineering teams from different cities in Northern Mindanao; sa atong Provincial Tourism Officer; sa atong mga kauban sa buhat , ang mga maabtik nga empleyado sa atong Provincial Government of Misamis Occidental; sa atong mga honored guests, sublion ko, usa ka malipayong gabii kanatong tanan!

Tinuod jud diay ang ilang giingon, there are luxuries in life that you can only relish from afar kay lisod man adtoon, sama sa atong grandioso nga bahandi sa probinsya, ang Mt. Malindang.

Dako jud ang akong pagtahod ug nakadayeg jud ko sa atong mga mountain trekkers. You faithfully do this every year and you untiringly help promote and protect the beautiful Mt. Malindang. For that, you deserve a big round of applause. Ato silang palakpakan!

This year marks your 20th ascent to Mt. Malindang. Wow! I envy you actually because you get to see every year exceptional sites that I have not seen yet. Kutob na lang ko sa pictures.

After I read an article issued by DENR about the biodiversity status of the Philippines, it sparked my curiosity even more because the article said the following: (1) the country hosts more than 52,177 described species of which more than half is found nowhere else in the world but only in the Philippines; (2) the Philippines is considered a mega-diversity country rivaled only by a few countries in the world when it comes to biodiversity. And about Mt. Malindang, mao ni ang sulti sa DENR: There are only 4 ASEAN Heritage Parks in the Philippines: (1) Mt. Apo Natural Park in Davao; (2) Mt. Iglit-Baco in Mindoro; (3) Mt. Kitanglad Range in Bukidnon; and, (4) Mt. Malindang in our very own province. There are 1,284 total number of species in Mt. Malindang and these riches are worth conserving for the future generations.

Wow! We are a blessed province. Lingia ang imong tapad ug ingna sya: “ANGAYAN LAMANG NGA ATONG IPASIGARBO UG PANGGAON ANG MT. MALINDANG.”

Salamat MTREX ug sa atong mga partner mountain trekkers associations, please continue with your advocacy. Thank you for helping the provincial government both in promoting and protecting our rich eco-tourism of Mt. Malindang aron kon unsa man ang kaanindot sa kinaiyahan nga inyong nakita karon, makita pa usab ni sa atong mga musunod nga henerasyon.

Enjoy your socials night. This is your evening. Daghang salamat.
