VG Almonte Joins Province-wide Coastal Clean-up
People do not often see a government official doing menial jobs, such as sweeping and picking up rubbish – but not the Hon. Provincial Vice-Governor Aurora Virginia Almonte. She, along with the other PGMO employees, as well as various agencies in Misamis Occidental, joined the synchronized coastal clean-up which was conducted in the different municipalities and cities of Misamis Occidental. This activity, which bore the tagline “Adopt a Coastline”, aimed to engage Misamisnons in protecting and preserving the marine ecosystems, thus, encapsulated with the theme: “Limpyong Kabaybayunan ug Kadagatan alang sa Kaugmaon sa atong Kabataan”.
In a short program conducted prior to the actual clean-up, Vice-Governor Almonte emphasized the importance of being responsible citizens “Hinaot nga dili lamang karon apan sa matag panahon nga aduna moy makita nga maglabay ug basura sa mga dagat ug suba, mahimo unta tang mga responsible citizens nga mubadlong batok niana.”
In Oroquieta City, the coastal clean-up took place at the entrance of the Mobod Sanctuary on November 27, 2015 at 6 o’clock in the morning.
